VIENNA (May. 10)
Dr. Sigmund Freud, whose eightieth birthday is being widely celebrated, was yesterday placed in the company of Nietzsche and Schopenhauer by Thomas Mann, famous novelist, at a festival here in honor of the founder of psychoanalysis.
Referring to Freud as “a man of heroic stature, related to Nietzsche and Schopenhauer,” Mr. Mann laid special emphasis on the connection between literature and psychology.
He praised Freud for his pioneer work in the curing of human souls, introducing a new humanism and freeing humanity from the influence of subconscious hatred.
