Three Jewish sports clubs were yesterday disqualified for two years and fined 4,000 kronen each by the Czechoslovak Swimming Union for refusing to permit their members, the country’s champion swimmers, to participate in the Olympic Games at Berlin. The clubs are the Hagibor in this city and the Bar Kochba in Bruenn and Bratislava, all affiliated with the Maccabi, world Jewish sports organization.

The action climaxes a controversy over the issue that has been conducted for months. The swimming union recently ordered the Jewish clubs to send its star Natators to the Berlin games on penalty of disqualification.

The Jewish clubs, however, carried the matter to the Foreign Minister, Emil Krofta, who advised them that the Foreign Office did not consider it necessary for them to participate in the Olympics.
