President Edouard Benes at a reception today to Jewish leaders promised to defend Palestine Jewish rights before the League of Nations on the basis of the Balfour Declaration, Great Britain’s pledge to facilitate establishment of a Jewish national home in the Holy Land.
Among the leaders received were Jacob Rosenheim, president of the Agudath Israel, world Jewish orthodox organization which just concluded its international convention at Marienbad, and Rabbi Horowicz, president of the Palestine branch of the Aguda.
Speaking on behalf of orthodox Jewry, the leaders thanked President Benes for the maintenance of equal rights for minorities in Czechoslovakia.
