A Jerusalem court today sentenced two Arabs to seven years’ imprisonment for participating in an engagement with British troops near Nablus. It was the first trial of members of rebel bands who have harassed military forces seeking to restore order in Palestine.

Surprise was evinced in many quarters at the sentence, for emergency regulations recently promulgated by the Government provide the death penalty for persons convicted of firing on soldiers.
