The Nazi press, taking its cue from a radio address by Dr. Robert Ley, head of the Nazi Labor Front, today blamed Jews for the devaluation of the French franc. It is expected that the monetary step, instituted by the Blum government last week, will result in heavy losses for German export trade.
Dr. Ley assailed the currency realignments in France, Switzerland and Holland terming them “Jewish swindle tricks,” and compared the present financial manoeuvres with the mark’s devaluation by the Weimar Republic.
“Both were a trick of Jewish jugglers,” he asserted yesterday, “desiring inflation in order to bring misfortune to large masses of people.”
Jews are “the enemy of honest and true socialism,” the Nazi chief declared.
