The economic rivalry between Jews and Arabs, continuing despite the end of the 25-week Arab strike, was evidenced today by a decision of a Jewish manufacturers’ conference to boycott the predominantly Arab harbor of Jaffa.
The conference decided to assist in building the temporary harbor started at this all-Jewish city last May when the Jaffa port was closed by the strike.
Other resolutions adopted at the closing session provided for establishment of a neutral employment bureau with compulsory arbitration and for paying “suitable wages” to Jewish workers.
Ari Shenkar was re-elected president of the Palestine Manufacturers’ Association.
