Renewed pressure on Jews was applied officially today on two fronts, the cultural and medical.

Under a new order, Jews are given until March 31 to liquidate book stores. Following issuance of the order, it was announced that one store would be permitted to continue in business in each of the larger cities. The store, however, must be plainly labeled Jewish, the announcement stated, “to avoid any doubt” on that score.

For the first time, the State stopped into the Nazi boycott of Jewish doctors when the federal health department issued an official appeal to all Germans to avoid patronizing them.

“Whoever follows the old example,” the department cautioned, “and seeks help from Jewish doctors, proves not only lack of feeling for the nation’s cleanliness, but also displays his aim not to obey National Socialist instructions regarding health and political activities.”
