A man who once turned his back on Luck (it’s a city of some 20,000 in eastern Poland) and fell on hard days, appeared today to have found Dame Fortune through the kindly intervention of President Franklin D. Roosevelt of the United States.

Baruch Maranc, once a communal official in Luck, some time ago wrote a letter to President Roosevelt, describing his needy condition and asking for an American visa.

Maranc said today that he has received a reply from the White House, not only granting the visa, but arranging for reduced steamship fare to America.
