Disorders “echoing in America,” Polish Parliament Warned

The Polish Parliament, warned that pogroms were not the way to solve the Jewish problem, was told today that disturbances in universities were “already echoing in America.”

Deputy Malinowski quoted an anti-Semitic youths’ proclamation which said: “We shall settle with the Jews in the universities.” He held such action against the constitution, which guarantees equality to the Jews.

Count Radziwill declared that pillaging of Jews’ shops was against the Polish spirit and that pogroms were “Tsarist inventions.” Expressing regret that anti-Semitism was increasing, he asserted:

“Anti-Semitism is no longer the monopoly of one party. Police measures alone are insufficient (to check disorders). The Government must solve the problem, which cannot be solved by pogroms.”
