Portugal Cancels Deportation Orders Against Refugees

The authorities today cancelled deportation orders against a number of German-Jewish refugee families under an ordinance revising all alien residence permits.

Jewish leaders were assured that the measures against foreigners had no anti-Semitic motives. The Portuguese Jewish Committee for Refugees is intervening for cancellation of more deportation orders.
