It was reported today from Mizmir, Turkish Smyrna, that public assemblies of Jews were held in all synagogues of the city at which it was decided that henceforth all Smyrna Jews would speak only Turkish publicly. The meetings followed a press campaign against public use of non-Turkish languages. Turkish Jews chiefly speak Ladino, a Spanish-Hebrew dialect.
