Eighty thousand persons have attended the 48 concerts given by the Palestine Symphony Orchestra this season, according to Mr. Levertov, general secretary of the orchestra association. Special courses in Hebrew have been arranged for members of the orchestra because only 17 of the 70 members are Palestinians.

The figures show that of 7,000 subscribers to the regular concerts, only 2,426 members of the association and 1,500 of these members live in Tel Aviv. The other 900 members are scattered over the rest of the country.

Plans for the coming season have been outlined by Dr. Simon, who stated that the best way of assuring the orchestra’s income was by following Bronislaw Huberman’s advice of turning the casual concert-goer into a subscriber and a subscriber into a full member of the association.
