An attempt was made to shoot Rey G.B. Spicer, Inspector-General of Palestine Police and Prisons, as he rode in his car through the center of the city today. He was not hit, but his chauffeur was seriously injured.

The car was ambushed near an Arab cafe behind police headquarters by three Arabs who fired twice at the car and threw away the revolver. An Englishman sitting in the cafe picked up the revolver and gave chase, but the Arabs escaped into the Arab Musrara quarter of Jerusalem.

A shot was fired at Jews praying at the Wailing Wall, but none was hit.
