Partition Seen As Certainty in London Report from Jerusalem

Download PDF for this date

The Daily Herald reported from Jerusalem today that partition of Palestine between Arabs and Jews was now a certainty.

Five years will elapse between the time the British Government announces its decision and the actual splitting up of the Holy Land, the report said. The delay is designed to give Arabs and Jews a last opportunity to arrive at an alternative solution of their own.

The Palestine Government has already informed London of its preference for outright partition rather than division into Arab and Jewish cantons, the Herald said, although the paper added that this had been officially denied in Jerusalem.
