The New Zionist Organization has issued a statement on “The Danger of the Palestine Partition Proposal” calling on all Jewish groups to make known its attitude against partition to world opinion, the British Government, the League of Nations and the various governments.

Declaring world Jewry unanimous in its opposition to the proposal, reported under consideration by the Royal Commission, the N.Z.O. said the dangers “are not outweighed by the false glitter which may be conjured up by the name ‘Jewish State’ being applied to an entity which does not itself contain the possibilities for a durable State or Dominion.”

Among the reasons cited in the statement for opposing the scheme are that it would violate the Balfour Declaration and mandate, could not fulfill Jewish needs for an emigration outlet, would hinder Jewish agricultural and industrial development, and that the Jewish region would produce an infiltration of Arabs from the Arab area.
