Resignation OF GEORG KARESKI, NAZI-APPOINTED DIRECTOR OF GERMAN JEWISH CULTURAL LIFE, FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE BERLIN JEWISH COMMUNITY, PRECIPITATED A CRISIS IN THE AFFAIRS OF THE EXECUTIVE TODAY.

AT THE SAME TIME, KARESKI RESIGNED FROM HIS POSITION AT THE HEAD OF THE FINANCIALLY-EMBARRASSED ISERIYA BANK, COOPERATIVE BANK FOR MIDDLE CLASS JEWS, OF WHICH HE WAS BOARD CHAIRMAN AS WELL AS PAID MANAGING DIRECTOR.

HIS RESIGNATION WAS DUE TO THE BANK’S FINANCIAL DIFFICULTIES. NEGOTIATIONS WERE STILL PROCEEDING IN AN ATTEMPT TO SAVE THE FUNDS OF SMALL JEWISH DEPOSITORS.

KARESKI WAS APPOINTED JEWISH CULTURAL DIRECTOR IN GERMANY BY THE NAZI GOVERNMENT OVER THE OBJECTION OF MANY JEWISH LEADERS.
