200 Seized in Warsaw As Police Apply New Anti-riot Curbs

ARRESTS REACHED 200 TODAY IN ANTI-JEWISH DISORDERS OF THE PAST FEW DAYS AS POLICE APPLIED A NEW ORDER PROVIDING FOR SUMMARY PRISON SENTENCES OF ONE TO TEN YEARS FOR BREACHES OF PUBLIC PEACE.

NINETEEN ANTI-SEMITES WERE ARRESTED TODAY FOR ATTACKING JEWS IN WARSAW AND BREAKING WINDOWS AFTER THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR HAD SERVED WARNING TO HOODLUMS AND AT THE SAME TIME ORDERED SCHOOL AUTHORITIES TO DETAIN ANY SCHOOL CHILDREN PARTICIPATING IN ATTACKS.

WITH HUNDREDS INJURED IN RECENT DISORDERS, INDIVIDUAL ATTACKS AGAINST JEWS OCCURRED IN MARSZALKOWSKA AND OTHER STREETS WHILE IN THE SUBURBS ATTACKS ON JEWS ASSUMED A MASS CHARACTER. EIGHT WERE WOUNDED AND MANY SHOPS PLUNDERED AND DEMOLISHED. JEWISH PASSENGERS WERE FORCED TO LEAVE TROLLEY CARS IN A WARSAW SUBURB AND SEVERAL OF THEM WERE ASSAULTED.

A FEW OF THE 200 ARRESTED IN THE PAST FEW DAYS ARE JEWS.

WHILE THE ANTI-RIOT WARNING WAS GIVEN PROMINENCE, THE AUTHORITIES ORDERED WARSAW NEWSPAPERS NOT TO PUBLISH ANY REPORTS OF ANTI-JEWISH DISTURBANCES.
