Italian Aid to Falashas Being Considered

COLONIAL UNDERSECRETARY ALLESANDRO LESSONA PROMISED REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNION OF ITALIAN JEWISH COMMUNITIES TODAY TO CONSIDER RECOMMENDATIONS FOR AIDING THE FALASHAS–THE HEBREW SECT OF ETHIOPIA. THE UNION IN A MEMORANDUM ASKED FOR ESTABLISHMENT OF SCHOOLS, NOT ONLY FOR JEWISH EDUCATION BUT FOR AGRICULTURAL AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING.

THE MEMORANDUM WAS BASED ON THE FINDINGS OF CARLO ALBERTO VITERBO, A MEMBER OF THE JEWISH UNION’S BOARD, WHO HAS RETURNED FROM AN EIGHT-MONTH STAY IN ETHIOPIA TO ESTABLISH JEWISH COMMUNITIES.
