Appeal of Paris Committee Attracts Attention in Poland

POLISH NEWSPAPERS ARE PUBLISHING THE APPEAL RECENTLY ISSUED IN PARIS BY THE COMMITTEE FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE RIGHTS OF JEWS IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE, CALLING ON POLAND TO GRANT JEWS EQUALITY OF RIGHTS WITH OTHER CITIZENS. THE APPEAL WAS SIGNED BY SENATOR JUSTIN GODART, PRESIDENT OF THE COMMITTEE, AND 23 OTHER FRENCH LEADERS IN POLITICAL, RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL LIFE.

KURJER PORANNY, NATIONALIST DAILY, POINTING OUT THAT THE APPEAL IS COUCHED IN MODERATE LANGUAGE, DECLARES ITS AUTHORS HAVE BEEN INFLUENCED BY ONE-SIDED INFORMATION. “THE JEWISH QUESTION,” THE PAPER ASSERTS, “CANNOT BE SOLVED BY APPEALS. THE SIGNATORIES MUST OBTAIN ITS SPEEDY SOLUTION IN THE INTERNATIONAL FORUM.”

JEWISH LEADERS DECIDED TO PRINT 100,000 OF THE APPEAL AND TO CIRCULATE IT AMONG POLISH INTELLECTUALS.
