An urgent plea for assistance in training refugees and other Eastern and Central European Jews in productive trades, made by Lord Rothschild, president of the British ORT, was transmitted to American Jewry yesterday by Lt. Col. Joseph H. Levey, at a reception tendered him by the officers of the American ORT Federation at the Hotel Commodore.

Col. Levey arrived in the United States Tuesday, on the Normandie to participate in the $450,000 fund raising campaign of the ORT. He was to leave for the Pacific Coast today to address a number of meetings in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and will return to New York April 12 to speak at several gatherings now being planned.
