Premier Koloman Daranyi’s laws restricting Jewish participation in Hungary’s economic and cultural life, which are now before Parliament, were denounced by the National Jewish Bureau of Hungary as a threat to the moral and material life of the Jewish population.
In a statement released for the press, the Daranyi proposals were stigmatized as “an infraction of the principle of equality of rights.” The statement said: “We protest against the accusations made against the Jews, and against measures susceptible of diminishing the rights of Hungarian citizens who as Jews remain faithful to their religion.”
