“Aryanization” of Jewish enterprises in Austria will be carried out much more rapidly than in Germany, according to a forecast published in Ueberblick, organ of the German Retailers’ Union. Reviewing the situation in Austria, the periodical declares the “Aryanization” process will be speeded up to prevent Jewish firms from sharing in the anticipated prosperity of Austria.

“What in the Reich has been a half-year, will in Austria be one month,” the paper asserts, adding that the extent of “Aryanization” in Austria will be much larger than it was in the Reich, since the percentage of Jewish retailers is higher, ranging from 30 in general to 80 in the textile trades.

The organ declares that dismissal of numerous Jewish employes renders possible immediate liquidation of unemployment among “Aryan” employes. It warns against the methods of “professional Aryanizators who come from the Reich for their personal interests.”
