The Gestapo today appointed eight Jews, most of them Zionists, to act as an advisory council on all matters pertaining to Austrian Jewry. The council is expected to meet regularly with Gestapo representatives as well as with leaders of Jewish organizations.

It was announced officially today that Jews would not be accepted as volunteers in the Austrian section of the German army. It is understood that Jews will be enrolled in special labor battalions and not be permitted to carry arms. Jewish youths pledging to emigrate within a stipulated time may escape service.
