Rachel Tabacznik, 60-year-old mother of Shlomo Ben Josef, today cabled a plea for a stay of the execution of death Sentence on her son, scheduled for tomorrow morning, to Sir Harold Alfred MacMichael, British High Commissioner in Palestine.
“I, a sexagenarian mother, implore you to make it possible to see my son to bid him farewell before the execution,” she said in the message. a few days ago she received a message from her doomed son, saying: “try to forget, and if you remember, be proud.”
Ben Josef was born in this town. He changed his name from Tabacznik to Ben Josef when he went to Palestine, in keeping with the custom of Palestine settlers of substituting Hebrew names for their diaspora names.
