Premier Benito Mussolini yesterday inaugurated a new radio short-wave transmitting station, described as the most powerful in the world, at Prato Smeraldo about seven miles outside Rome. The station, whose broadcasts can be picked up throughout the world but which are destined particularly for listeners in Italy’s east African Empire, has a power of 100 kilowatts and can broadcast four programs simultaneously, it has 12 wave-lengths and 14 antennae ranging from about 180 to 300 feet in height.
