British troops today reoccupied Beersheba, in southern Palestine, thus reestablishing British control over virtually all of the Holy Land. The city was overrun by terrorists during recent weeks. Today’s operation was part of the systematic clean-up of all rebel centers by reinforced troop contingents.

Sheikh Abdul Rahman el Khatib, a leader of the group hostile to the exiled Mufti of Jerusalem, died today from gunshot wounds inflicted by an unknown assailant last Thursday. A Jew was shot dead near the railway station in Jerusalem. At Ramleh, unknown terrorists set fire to the residence of Eissa Elissa, publisher and editor of one of Palestine’s largest arab newspapers. Damage was estimated at about $20,000.
