Several hundred Jews, most of them over 60 years of age, were reported released from concentration camps. The largest group, 150, arrived in Berlin, including many from northern cities such as Hamburg and Stettin. They were forced to spend the night in Jewish institutions here before the Jewish Community could collect sufficient funds for their transportation home.
Several younger Jews were also reported released to assist in the “Aryanization” of the businesses. According to Der Angriff, in such cases the Jews must return to the concentration camp after completion of the transfer of their businesses. It was reported that the commandant of the concentration camp at Welzheim, Wuertemberg, permitted Jewish prisoners over 60 to return to their homes.
