Prof. Denis Fahey, Jewsuit college instructor whose anti-Semitic allegations have been quoted by Father Coughlin in American radio broadcasts, is regarded in clerical circles here as an “eccentric.” The author of the “Mystical Body of Christ in the Modern World,” who is a teacher at the Black Rock College in Dublin, reportedly once was rebuked by the Catholic primate of Ireland, Cardinal MacCrary, for his anti-Semitic activities.
Prof. Fahey has refused to meet rabbis to discuss his views. In a letter to a rabbi, he averred he was not anti-Semitic, contending on the contrary that he was fond of Jews but objected to Jews and Judaism on religious grounds. He expressed the belief that communism was a realization of Jewish Messianic ideals. The Jewsuit urged, in a veiled manner, that the Irish Jews be deprived of citizenship. He frequently lectures, giving voice to views similar to those expressed in his book.
