The Palestine Jewish National Council, in executive session, today adopted a resolution expressing indignation at the closing of Palestine’s gates to refugees. The action was taken after President Isaac Ben Zvi suggested that the Jewish Agency reconsider its decision to participate in the London conferences on Palestine. He attacked Lord Samuel with the assertion that Palestine Jewry would never participate in negotiations on the basis of his Jewish minority plan. He added that the Jews were always ready to negotiate with the Palestine Arabs, but not with representatives of neighboring Arab countries, whom Britain has invited to the parties.
Pinchas Ruttenberg, electric power magnate, demanded the calling of a world Jewish conference in America for the opening of Palestine’s gates. David Ben Gurion, Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog and Menachem M. Ussishkin, were other speakers. Meanwhile, touching scenes occurred at the Tel Aviv port when a second group of 100 refugees, aged between 80 and 90, landed.
