Investigation of Father Charles E. Coughlin’s radio broadcasts to determine whether they contribute to the fomenting of racial and religious persecution was urged today on chairman Frank R. McNinch of the federal communications commission by Dorothy Thompson in her syndicated column, published in the Herald Tribune here. Miss Thompson reminded Mr. McNinch of his Nov. 19 speech in which he said the FCC would “employ every resource” to prevent the debasing of radio by its use “as an instrument of racial or religious persecution.”
