French-canadian Press Hails Statement

The French press today acclaimed the statement of Secretary of State Fernand Rinfret that immigration restrictions would not be altered in behalf of refugees. In Quebec, the refugee question is a political football between Conservatives and Liberals, each party asserting that it opposes immigration. Le Canada said editorially that there were only 800 Jewish farmers here, whereas the official figure is more than 6,000.
