NEW YORK (Feb. 2)
Maurice Schwartz, actor and director of the Yiddish Art Theatre, announced today that he is bringing a troupe of Polish Jewish actors known as the “Yiddish Band” to New York for a series of performances. The troupe, whose headquarters is in Warsaw, specializes in a type of variety performance featuring individual skits and satires, for the most part set to music. It will open at the Yiddish Art theatre Feb. 26, marking the first time in many years that an entire troupe has been brought to this country. Associated with Mr. Schwartz in sponsoring the venture is Ignace Son, well-known former Russian impresario.
