Tel Aviv-haifa Traffic Suspended

Download PDF for this date

The military authorities today suspended all traffic between Tel Aviv and Haifa following the fatal shooting last night of an Arab near Tel Aviv. An official communique declared the killer was a Jew. Two Jews were wounded during sniping attacks upon a potash convoy from the Dead Sea. The convoy was subjected to heavy rifle fire throughout the trip to Jerusalem.

Two Petach Tikvah Jews, Dr. Joseph Farber and Moshe Novick, have been arrested for “political reasons.” The city council met in special session, strongly protested the arrests of citizens known as peaceful and law-abiding and demanded their release.

The executive committee of the Agudath Israel adopted a resolution declaring a minority status would not be accepted by the Jewish people of Palestine and abroad.
