Dr. Isaac Husik professor of philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania and editor of the Jewish Publication Society, died here this morning of a heart attack. He was 63 years old.
Dr. Husik, who was born in Russia, received his education at the University of Pennsylvania, faculty of which he joined in 1911 as a lecturer in philosophy. He had also been associated with the faculties of Gratz College, Columbia University Summer Session, the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, the Hebrew Union College, the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Yeshiva and Yeshiva College.
Among Dr. Husik’s books are: Judah Messer Leon’s Commentary on the Vetus Logical, History of Medieval Jewish Philosophy, and a translation of Stammler’s Theory of Justice. He also translated and edited Albo’s Sefer Ikkarim, 5-volume book of fundamental Jewish religious principles, and was the author of many articles and monographs on philosophy and jurisprudence. Dr. Husik was editor of the Jewish Publication Society since 1925.
