Britain’s pledged word to the Jews must be honored in full, it was declared today by John McGovern, Independent Laborite, in an address in East London. Mr. McGovern urged recognition of the right of the Jewish people to continue immigration to Palestine on the basis of the country’s absorptive capacity and to build up a “great, progressive agricultural country which is steadily raising the standard of the Arab people.” He demanded arms for the Jews to defend their lives and interests.
