Poland Acts to Win Support of Minorities in Move to Block Hitler

The Polish Government, rallying its citizens to resist threatened pressure from Germany, was reported today to have negotiated the support of national minorities for national defense measures.

Certain political circles, the liberal Kurjer Polski said, held talks with representatives of the Ukrainians in Lwow and with delegates of the Jews, White Russians and Lithuanians in Warsaw, obtaining wholehearted assurances of cooperation against aggression It was suggested that the minorities issue declarations supporting the Government, the report said.

The Jewish Deputies Club appealed to Polish Jewry to devote all its energy to defend of the nation and to subscribe to the air defense loan as a way of blocking Chancellor Hitler’s aims of “enslaving peoples, destroying liberty and causing the return of barbarism.”
