Dr. William Filderman, Rumanian Jewish leader, today protested to the authorities against the rejection on medical grounds of 80 per cent of Jewish applicants for admission to the Bucharest Polytechnic Institute. In a memorandum to the Premier, the Minister of Education and the school’s rector, Dr. Filderman pointed out that the new regulations regarding medical examination prior to admission of applicants to the entrance examinations were not being applied to the Jews in the same manner as to other applicants. Dr. Filderman said all the Jewish applicants were perfectly healthy and had health certificates from Rumanian doctors. He demanded new medical examinations for the rejected applicants.
