In a special declaration issued simultaneously with the signing of the Franco-Turkish mutual assistance pledge, France today warned Germany and Italy to keep hands off Syria. The formal statement said: “France has no intention whatever of renouncing in favor of a third power the mission which it has assumed in Syria and Lebanon.”
