An anti-Semitic issue was injected into the proceedings of the American Youth Congress general meeting yesterday when one of the proponents of an anti-Communism resolution was accused of anti-Semitism and “Coughlinism.” Floyd Caridi, chairman of the Yough Latin American League, arising to defend the resolution, was charged by Ben Epstein of the American Jewish Congress Youth Division with being “an open anti-Semite who has beaten Jews in the streets of New York.” Later, Mr. Caridi denied that he was either anti-Semitic or a member of the Coughlinite Christian Front organization.
