Colonial Undersecretary Lord Dufferin and Ava was today sharply criticized by Nathan Laski, president of the Manchester Jewish Community, for declaring in the House of Lords last Wednesday that an increased influx of refugees would lead to an increase in anti-Semitism in England. Writing in the Manchester Guardian, Mr. Laski, father of the president of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, termed the assertion “insulting to the noblest traditions of the country.” He charged that anti-Semitism was fostered by the Nazi regime and was used as a smoke screen for an anti-British policy.
