Unreserved condemnation of racial and religious hatred and of “the men and movements promoting such hatred in the United States,” was voiced here at the annual convention of the National Italian-American Civic League. A resolution adopted by the convention pledged the organization to combat “this evil” with all its strength and reaffirmed its devotion to American democratic principles. Citing the “grievous disabilities” imposed upon the Jews in numerous European countries, the resolution warned that racial and religious hatred “corrodes the pillars of our democracy and has no place in the American way of life.”
