Many Jews were beaten in Bratislava and left bleeding on the pavements when anti-Semitic crowds sacked three synagogues, according to press reports here today. Windows and doors of the principal synagogue were smashed and the interior was demolished. The basement was flooded from broken water mains. Objects of worship were piled in the street and burned. The reason for the outbreak was given officially as “ill treatment of Aryans by Jews some days previously”
