Yugoslavia, Hungary Close Borders to Rumanian Jews

Download PDF for this date

Rumanian Jews, including those with valid passports and visas, are no longer able to leave the country.

A large group of Jews who were turned back at the Yugoslav border were told by the Yugoslavian frontier authorities that they could not travel through Yugoslavia because Italy had stopped issuing transit visas to Jews since last Friday. The Hungarian frontier is similarly closed to Jews.
