Increasing indications were seen here today of the German Government’s attempts to win the wartime support of German Jews. Jewish physicians, pharmacists and engineers have been called up for special service in Berlin, it was reported.
The German Consul in Riga took the unprecedented step of voluntarily intervening to help a Jewish emigrant from the Reich to obtain a Lithuanian visa. The consul also invited several German Jews to return to the Reich, promising them work under favorable conditions.
