In response to cabled appeals from its representatives in Europe describing the unsanitary conditions in camps of Polish refugees and the danger of epidemics, the American Red Cross is rushing a shipment of 60,000 six-ounce cakes of soap and 25,000 yards of cotton sheeting to Europe for distribution to Polish refugees in Hungary and Rumania.
Preliminary shipments of basic drugs, warm underwear, blankets and muslin have gone forward to Hungary and Rumania, it was stated. These supplies were requested by the American Red Cross delegation in Europe after visiting refugee camps for civilian and military Polish refugees in Rumania and Hungary.
