The Cuban Government’s move was prompted by the poor condition of its treasury, it was learned.
Cuba will soon be seeking credits from the United States, it was learned from an official source, and it is doubtful whether the State Department will look kindly upon requests for credits if Cuba seizes large sums of money placed on deposit by American organizations and individuals so that the refugees could find temporary haven in Cuba.
