Noted Scholars Form Body to Set Up World Science Academy in Jerusalem

Establishment of a committee to set up an International Academy for Science at Jerusalem was announced today by Prof. Franz Boas, the noted anthropologist, and Dr. Immanuel Velikovsky, Palestine scholar and editor of Scripta Academica. Initial meeting of the committee, which comprises leading scholars and scientists of all faiths, was held at Columbia University this afternoon under the chairmanship of Dr. Boas. Speakers included Dr. Boas and Dr. Velikovsky.

Committee members include Dr. Cyrus Adler, Prof. Max Ascoli, Prof. Albert Einstein, Prof. Abraham Flexner, Prof. Simon Flexner, Prof. Enrico Fermi, Prof. Otto Loewi, Prof. L. Michaelis, Prof. G. Stern, Dr. Chaim Weizmann, Prof. Hermann Weyl, Prof. Harry A. Wolfson and others.

One of the aims of the proposed Academy, as outlined in a statement by Prof. Boas, is to give “help and new inspiration” to scientists expelled from central and southern Europe because of their descent or political convictions. Establishment of the Academy was proposed by a group of Palestine scholars, under the leadership of Dr. Velikovsky and with the support of Dr. Weizmann.
