Rumanian Minister of Propaganda Nichifor Crainic tonight announced complete elimination of Jews from the Rumanian press and banning of Jewish newspapers, the German wireless reported.
The Berlin broadcast quoted Crainic as stating before managing directors of Bucharest papers:
“Under the new government the right to speak to the Rumanian people will be conceded only to persons of Rumanian blood. Long, painful experiences have shown us that the Jewish press is incapable of adaptation to Rumanian ideals, and that Jewish papers represent only the ideals of another race which are deleterious from the Rumanian national viewpoint.”
Crainic was also represented as stating that non-Jewish national minorities would be permitted to continue publishing their own newspapers.
