Aliens Registering in France Asked Their Religion; Move Seen Aimed at Jews

The rule hitherto prevalent in France not to mention religion in official documents apparently has been abolished. Foreigners reporting to the police in regard to residential permits are being questioned now about their religion.

The Jewish population fears this action involves discrimination against them. The French authorities are seeking to decrease the population of Vichy by refusing residence to foreigners.
