The sixth volume of the Jewish National Fund’s Golden Book, which lists friends of the Palestine Jewish homeland was inaugurated today with a section reserved for inscribing the name of President Roosevelt on behalf of the American Jews.
Inscriptions on the first page include Menahem M. Ussishkin, president of the fund on his 75th birthday; Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Palestine, on his 50th birthday, and also an inscription for “the persecuted Jewries of Germany and Austria.”
A total of 7,063 names were inscribed in the Golden Book in the last decade, of which 3,063 were from the United States and 675 from Great Britain. King George V, Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands are among the prominent names included.
